This privacy notice describes how personal data is processed on the visitaanekoski.fi website. Visit Äänekoski is part of the City of Äänekoski’s service portfolio. 3. What data is collected and for what purpose

There is one form on the site that collects personal data: Submit a place. The purpose of the form is to enable a company, association, or other operator to have their place added to the site’s listings (e.g. restaurants, accommodation, attractions) and to create a dedicated page for the place.

The data collected via the form is divided into two groups:

3.1 Information published on the site

This information appears in the site listings and on the place’s own page:

  • Place name
  • Description, category and keywords
  • Address and location
  • Public contact details (phone, email, website, social media)
  • Opening hours and other service information
  • Images provided of the place

A private individual’s name or personal contact details should not be entered in the publishable fields unless the person themselves publicly acts as the place’s contact person.

3.2 Information retained only by the City of Äänekoski

This information will not be displayed on the site, but is retained solely for the City of Äänekoski’s internal use for processing the submission and communications:

  • Name of the submitter
  • Submitter’s email address and phone number
  • Any additional information and messages
  • Technical details of the submission (e.g. timestamp)

4. Legal basis for processing

  • Published place information: the data subject’s consent and a contract with the submitter for publishing the place on the site.
  • City’s internal contact details: the controller’s legitimate interests (processing the submission, providing the service, contacting the submitter).

5. Sources of data

All personal data is obtained directly from the submitter via the form. No data is collected from other sources.

6. Data retention period

  • Published place information on the site is retained as long as the place remains active in the listings.
  • When a place is removed from the site, public information is deleted and the internal contact details are retained for up to 12 months after removal for possible communication.
  • Unprocessed or rejected submissions are deleted within 12 months.

7. Recipients and processors of data

Personal data is processed by persons designated by the City of Äänekoski who are responsible for the site’s content management. In addition, the following technical service providers process data as part of site maintenance:

  • The site’s technical supplier and server environment provider

Data is not disclosed to third parties for marketing purposes and is not sold.

8. Transfers of data outside the EU/EEA

Personal data is not, as a rule, transferred outside the EU/EEA. If the technical services used require such a transfer, protection is ensured using the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) or other GDPR-approved transfer mechanisms.

9. Cookies

The site uses cookies to enable site functionality and visitor analytics. Users can manage cookie settings via the cookie notice displayed on the site and in their browser settings.

10. Data subject’s rights

You have the right to:

  • access your personal data
  • request rectification of inaccurate data
  • request erasure of data
  • restrict or object to processing
  • withdraw your consent (e.g., request the removal of a place from the site)
  • lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority (Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman, tietosuoja.fi)

11. Information security

Personal data is stored in secure systems with access restricted to designated persons. Up-to-date technical and organizational safeguards are in use as part of the City of Äänekoski’s general information security practices.

12. Automated decision-making

No automated decision-making or profiling as referred to in Article 22 of the GDPR is carried out on the site.

13. Changes to this notice
