In Äänekoski, too, these trends are thriving, and local food is served right in the city center, at Koskikeskus, by café-shop Torppa.

Would a pastry of the day with your coffee, or a traditional doughnut on Friday, hit the spot? From the café display case you’ll find sweet and savory baked goods that are simply irresistible. Need a pick-me-up with a fresh smoothie, or does a lunch salad sound good? Head to Torppa and take a seat at a turquoise table to enjoy. Those in a hurry can take their coffee to go. 

Torpparit Direct Sales Cooperative café-shop Torppa serves at Koskikeskus, in the corridor between Power and Kesport, on weekdays 10–17 and Saturdays 10–14. You can order a variety of treats for your celebration table or to brighten everyday life. It’s best to place orders a week in advance, but if a last-minute need pops up, you can always ask if it’s possible.

At Torppa, customers are served with heart, and daily encounters matter. Customer wishes are heard, and that’s why a lunch salad was added to the selection. On the shop shelves you’ll find local handicrafts; the selection is kept varied with attention to seasonal items. Here you’ll find a local souvenir to bring along or something delightful for your home. 

All producers are from Äänekoski or nearby municipalities, so locality is guaranteed. There are currently about 50 active producers, so the selection varies with much-loved products. Depending on the harvest season, you’ll find vegetables and root crops, fruits, and berries. At Torppa you’ll find frozen sea buckthorn to secure your vitamin C intake—superfood at its best!

Fresh breads and pastries to take home delight every sweet tooth in the family, and homemade soups sold frozen make busy days easier. If your fishing luck wasn’t the best, Torppa’s freezer has local fish fillets. Trendy local-food shoppers will also be tempted by honeys and canned meats on the shelves.
