Äänekosken taidemuseo

An art museum open year-round featuring a permanent exhibition from the collection of Toivo Parantaisen taidemuseosäätiö and changing exhibitions.

Äänekosken taidemuseo operates on Klubinmäki in the so-called Hammarénin talo. The building was completed in 1900 as the residence and workspace of the factory manager. Later, families of factory engineers lived in the house. From the late 1940s to the mid-1970s the building served as the factories’ club, and thereafter as the district office of Osuuskunta Metsäliitto.

The permanent exhibition, renewed in summer 2021, presents nearly 70 works from the collection of Toivo Parantaisen taidemuseosäätiö. On display are, among others, prints by Simo Hannula and Veikko Vionoja, landscape paintings by Urho Lehtinen and Eemu Myntti, and humorous crayon drawings by Nikolai Lehto. Also on view are the familiar and well-known oil paintings by H.Ahtela and Hugo Simberg.

The museum operates year-round. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum arranges three to four temporary exhibitions each year, each with some connection to Äänekoski through the artist.
